Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP)
The Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) supports accredited Australian NGOs to undertake cost-effective, practical and direct poverty reduction activities. Under this scheme, the Australian Government supplements funds provided by the Australian community. Australian NGOs bring particular strengths to the Australian aid program. They mobilise public support and voluntary contributions for aid; they often have strong links with community groups in developing countries and work in areas where government-to-government aid is not possible.
A number of Bangladeshi NGOs are running development programs under ANCP, in partnership with accredited Australian NGOs. The sectors covered by this program are food security, education, micro-finance focussed community development, STD & HIV/AIDS and community health, arsenic mitigation, furthering the rights of women in indigenous community, and disability and capacity building activities.
