Australian CT Ambassador Visits Bangladesh
Australia’s Ambassador for Counter-Terrorism, Mr Bill Paterson, will visit Dhaka from 7-9 November to meet Ministers and senior officials and discuss CT cooperation between Australia and Bangladesh.
Australia and Bangladesh signed a MoU on Counter-Terrorism Cooperation in December 2008. Since then the two countries have conducted various CT cooperation activities, including the first ever joint training exercise on CT between the Australian and Bangladeshi police forces in April this year.
The CT Ambassador’s visit underlines Australia’s commitment to delivering practical and mutually beneficial activities under the MoU framework, and the importance of regional and international cooperation on CT. While in Dhaka, Mr Paterson will also address a CT workshop for police and prosecutors.
Mr Paterson was posted to the Australian High Commission in Dhaka from 1972 to 1974.
