The Electoral Commission Queensland has announced the State General Election on 24 March 2012 and a Local Government Election on 28 April 2012. A Travel bulletin informing voters overseas of the election and available voting options is posted on the Smartraveller website. Voter enquiries should refer to the Electoral Commission of Queensland’s (ECQ) website (http://www.ecq.qld.gov.au). The Australian High Commission, Dhaka will not be offering voting services.

Electors wishing to apply for a postal vote in the Queensland State General Election or the Queensland Local Government Election should complete the ‘The Applications for a Ballot Paper’ (Form 12) available on the Electoral Commission of Queensland’s (ECQ) website. If electors do not have internet access, the forms can be collected from the Australian High Commission, Dhaka.

Completed forms should be faxed to +61 7 3036 5770 or emailed to [email protected]. The State General Election form must be returned by 6 pm on Thursday 22 March 2012 and the Local Government Election form must be returned by 6 pm (Queensland time) on Wednesday 25 April 2012. Electors wishing to vote for both elections must complete applications for each event.
