Scholarships
Australia offers many scholarships for international students. Scholarships are granted on merit and the applicants need to demonstrate their eligibility for the scholarship for which they are applying.
Australian Scholarships Program
The Australian Government has made a range of study and research awards available to candidates in the Asia Pacific region, including Bangladesh, under the Australian Scholarships Program. This includes the Australian Development Scholarships (ADS), Australian Leadership Awards (ALA) and Endeavour Awards Program.

Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) aims to contribute to long-term development needs of Australia's partner countries to promote good governance, economic growth and human development. ADS provide people with the necessary skills and knowledge to drive change and influence the development outcomes of their own country, through obtaining tertiary qualifications at participating Australian institutions.

Australian Leadership Awards (ALA) for study in Australia The ALA consists of both scholarships and fellowships. ALA Scholarship stream is for longer-term post-graduate study at the masters or doctoral level. ALA Scholarships target potential leaders who will contribute to regional reform, development and governance. ALA Fellowships are for short term study, research or professional attachments of up to six months. Fellowships target current leaders - people who can help change or advance a policy and who would benefit from Australian ideas or expertise to help them do so.
The application process for the ALA 2010 intake will be open from March 20, 2009. The deadline for submitting applications is June 30, 2009.

Endeavour scholarships are managed by Department of Education, Science and Training’s (DEST). The Endeavour Programme is an Australian Government initiative, bringing together under the one umbrella, all of the DEST international scholarships. It provides opportunities within the Asia-Pacific region for developing mutual understanding through study, research, professional development and international education experiences.

International Centres of Excellence Scholarships
The International Centres of Excellence is an Australian Government initiative to create, profile and endorse Australia’s excellence in five key areas, namely Asia Pacific Studies, Water Resource Management, Tourism and Hospitality, Sports Science and Mathematics.
The International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality (THE-ICE) and International centre of Excellence in Water Resource Management (ICEWARM) have launched a range of scholarships for international students to study courses in Tourism and Hospitality and Water Resource Management respectively in its member institutions.
